I can’t believe it’s September already! A few of my herbs have gone to seed, but I was able to cut some stems for this easy herbal centerpiece. I found this cute milk bottle caddy at Michael’s. Even though I no longer see the exact one I have, this wood caddy will be just as nice.  Cut some sprigs from various herb plants…trim the leaves that will fall below the water line…stick in milk bottle fillled with water. Voila!   …

A few weeks ago, I got up early to exercise. I decided I would fast walk on the trail before it got too hot out. I convinced my daughter to join me and it ended up being a slow walk/chat/photo op. It was a gorgeous day and I got some really nice pics.

I get 3 squirrels visitors plus a variety of birds everyday. During winter, I was putting mixed nuts on the deck. Of course I wanted an A, but it is what it is. This was my FINAL paper for school, so I am happy! Organoleptics of Bitter: Tasting with…

Last month, I was lucky enough to travel to Australia for work. I had two personal goals I wanted to achieve – see a kangaroo and visit the Hierophant herb shop. I was lucky enough to do both! The Hierophant is located in the Griffith neighborhood, a suburb of Canberra, Australia’s capital city. The Hierophant was a quaint little shop with what you would expect from a place selling herbs. They offered a wide variety tinctures, dried herbs, books, crystals,…

About a year ago I was going through a lot of stress. I was having relationship issues, dealing with school, my daughter was starting her freshman year of college, my son his senior year of high school. Work was stressful and my commute was a minimum of 2 hours one way. When I’m stressed, I lose weight. The first part to go…my tiny excuse of a behind. I was weighing myself almost daily, fearing I was getting too skinny. Every…

During one of my classes, I made a cordial with orange peel for the bitter taste which aids in digestion especially helpful after a large meal. The cinnamon and thyme are both carminitives which help relieve gas. The orange, thyme, and cinnamon are a good balance of flavors and are a bit warming. This is the perfect cordial to make for the fall. Try a shot glass full after a large meal, or a hard day. 🙂 The honey helps…
